US Election 2024 Highlights: Bitter rivals Kamala Harris and Donald
Trump launched their final campaign blitz on Monday, both targeting
crucial Pennsylvania in what has been described as the tightest and most
volatile US presidential election in memory.
If
elected, Harris would make history as the first female president in the
United States 248-year history, as well as the first Black woman and
person of South Asian descent, to hold the office. While Harris and her
campaign have downplayed the focus on gender and race to avoid
alienating potential supporters, the historical significance of her win
would be profound.
Republican Trump is confident of a “landslide" victory as he seeks a dramatic return to the White House, while Democrat Harris claims that "momentum" is on her side in her bid to become America's first female president.
On
the other hand, a Trump victory would mark a different kind of
historical milestone. He would be the first person convicted of a felony
to be elected to the U.S. presidency, having faced 34 felony counts in a
New York hush-money case just over five months ago.
Right-wing
tech mogul Elon Musk has stirred controversy with his $1 million
giveaways to registered voters, while Kamala Harris has leaned on the
star power of former President Barack Obama, former First Lady Michelle
Obama, and singer Beyoncé to boost her campaign.
In contrast,
outgoing President Biden has been noticeably absent from the campaign
trail since making headlines for referring to Trump’s supporters as
“garbage" last week.

The four-part series features iconic stars such as Queen Latifah and MC Lyte, as well as newer chart-topping artists like Tierra Whack and Saweetie. As well as thought-provoking interviews aplenty, the series also features some important wider contextualisation of the genre and looks at Hip-Hop through the lens of the political, social and racial landscape of the times. - Morgan Cormack
Painkiller

This brand-new drama is a fictionalised retelling of the origins and aftermath of the opioid crisis in America, telling the story from a number of different lenses, with focuses on multiple characters' stories. If that sounds familiar, then that's because it is - this series is incredibly reminiscent of the 2021 series Dopesick, which starred Michael Keaton.
However, that doesn't mean this isn't still an effective drama in its own right, and for those who missed Dopesick or don't have access to Disney Plus, it works as a chilling reminder of the real-world tragedy being dramatised. Meanwhile, it is led by strong lead performances from the likes of Matthew Broderick and Uzo Aduba. - James Hibbs
Heartstopper

This LGBTQ+ romance has captured the hearts of viewers across the globe, telling the story of how schoolboys Charlie Spring (Joe Locke) and Nick Nelson (Kit Connor) go from being friends to boyfriends over the course of a fateful school year. The show dispenses with the drugs, sex and misery of edgier high school fare like Euphoria, in favour of an all-ages approach that makes up for in cuteness what it lacks in dramatic stakes.
That being said, the second season – which has now arrived on Netflix – does delve into some darker material, as our characters face troubled home lives and mental health concerns among other obstacles. As detailed in our Heartstopper season 2 review, a more confident and complex show emerges in the latest episodes which could well convert any sceptics of the first.
With brisk 25-minute runtime, this is a series you can easily binge-watch – and if you're a hopeless romantic, then you most likely will. Heartstopper boasts a cast comprised largely of newcomers (along with one A-list cameo), but expect to see plenty more from them in the years to come. In fact, trans actress Yasmin Finney – who plays arty schoolgirl Elle – has been cast in Doctor Who's 60th anniversary special, while co-lead Joe Locke will appear in Marvel's Agatha: Coven of Chaos. – David Craig

If you enjoyed Bosch, then Netflix has the series for you to next dive into. Adding to the world first fleshed out in Michael Connelly's books, The Lincoln Lawyer stars Manuel Garcia-Rulfo as Mickey Haller, a criminal defence lawyer and recovering addict who works in the back of his Lincoln Navigator and takes on cases across Los Angeles.
If you're a fan of the books, or just of the legal drama genre, then this is for you - it may not be revolutionary, shocking or hugely inventive, but it services fans of the material well and acts as perfect easy watching, with a group of likeable characters you'll be happy to return to, expertly brought to life by the likes of Neve Campbell and Becki Newton. -James Hibbs

Just when we needed to fill the Breaking Bad-shaped hole in our lives, Ozark delivered. After his money laundering aspirations go awry, Marty Byrde (Jason Bateman) finds himself (and his family) mixed up with all manner of dangerous and unscrupulous people in the Missouri Ozarks.
And that's just the beginning of the story. The entire show is not available on Netflix, meaning you can watch the full adventure right now. It's filled with all the action, twists, turns, and WTF cliffhangers you'd come to expect from a top-tier Netflix series. If you enjoyed Breaking Bad, you will love this.
3. Vikings: Valhalla

Vikings: Valhalla is set 100 years after the History Channel's original Vikings series, at a time when the Vikings had overrun England, taken control of Normandy in France, and ventured across the Atlantic Ocean – but their time in England was nearing an end. It follows the adventures of Leif Erikson (Sam Corlett), Freydís Eiríksdóttir (Frida Gustavsson), Harald Hardrada (Leo Suter) – some of history's most famous Norse men and women.
Like the original Vikings series, Valhalla is bold, bloody, and brilliant. The first season crams so much action into the opening salvo that you'll be wondering where the show goes from here
4. Class
Story: This is an official adaptation of the popular Spanish teen drama ‘Elite,’ which is about the caste barriers between high-profile young adults studying at a prestigious school and new scholarship students who join them from the slums and upend the established social order. Things worsen when one of the students is murdered, turning everyone into a suspect. And when the investigation begins, everyone has their own version of what happened; however, only time will reveal the truth.
